Calnex Proves Y.1731 Multi-Vendor Interop
January 2010
Calnex Solutions announced a successful test of the Y.1731 Ethernet OAM with ten different platforms from a number of leading Ethernet equipment vendors at the EANTC Interop Test, which was showcased at the recent MPLS Ethernet World Congress.
The Calnex Paragon allows equipment manufacturers and service providers to rapidly prove technologies like ITU-T Y.1731 by providing specific test features for those technologies.
“We were able to test and prove performance management functions very quickly and easily because of the Paragon’s ability to impair specific Y.1731 messages,” said Jose Liste, Network Software and Systems Technical Marketing Manager for Cisco Systems.
Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director at EANTC, the lab that conducted the Multi-Vendor Interop test said “Ethernet Performance Monitoring to the Y.1731 standard can be very time-consuming to test and to prove the accuracy of systems. With the Calnex Paragon, we were able to run a lot of these tests quickly and do it in an accurate and repeatable way to really prove the performance of the platforms under test.”
Details of the tests and the platforms are in the Multi-Vendor Interoperability Test White Paper, which can be downloaded at www.eantc.com/mplsewc2010.

For most, the migration to an all-Ethernet or all-IP network will be a gradual process as network operators endeavour to maximise the lifespan of their existing TDM assets.
